ERROR
All error is, more or less, whether
directly or indirectly, a misrepresentation of God’s character and a subversion
of His revelation (Rev 22:18-19).
Horatius Bonar
Follow
the Lamb, 1861.
If you want
the truth to go round the world you must hire an express train to pull it; but
if you want a lie to go round the world it will fly; it is as light as a
feather, and a breath will carry it. It is well said in the old proverb, “a lie
will go round the world while truth is putting its boots on.”
C.H. Spurgeon
Again, men
tell us that our preaching should be positive and not negative, that we can
preach the truth without attacking error.
But if we follow that advice we shall have to close our Bible and desert
its teachings. The New Testament is a
polemic book almost from beginning to end ... It is when men have felt
compelled to take a stand against error that they have risen
to the really great heights in the celebration of the truth.
What Is Christianity,
cited in Biblical Separation, by Ernest
Pickering, p. 97.
Every error may be based upon some part of Scripture taken from
its connection; but no error can stand the test of all Scripture.
R.C. Chapman
Whatever is
only almost true is quite false, and among the most dangerous of errors,
because being so near truth, it is the more likely to lead astray.
Henry Ward Beecher
I will give
you this as a most certain observation, that there never was anything of false
doctrine brought into the church, or anything of false worship imposed upon the
church, but either it was by neglecting the Scripture, or by introducing
something above the Scripture.

Compare
Scripture with Scripture. False
doctrines, like false witnesses, agree not among themselves.
