GOD-FAITHFULNESS
God never
made a promise that was too good to be true.
Christian History, n. 25.
God is ready
to assume full responsibility for the life wholly yielded to Him.
Andrew Murray
I know of
nothing which so stimulates my faith in my Heavenly Father as to look back and
reflect on His faithfulness to me in every crisis and every chilling circumstance
of life. Over and over He has proved His care and concern for my welfare. gain
and again I have been conscious of the Good Shepherd’s guidance through dark
days and deep valleys.

When we face
difficulties, we sometimes forget God's past faithfulness. We see only the
detours and the dangerous path. But look back and you will also see the joy of
victory, the challenge of the climb, and the presence of your Traveling
Companion who has promised never to leave you nor forsake you.

We fail Him,
but, blessed be His name, He has never failed us, and He never will do so. We
doubt Him, we mistrust His love and His providence and His guidance; we “faint
because of the way;” we murmur because of the way; yet all the time He is there
blessing us, and waiting to pour out upon us a blessing so great that there
shall not be room to receive it.

I have held
many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed
in God's hands, that I still possess.

God's
work done in God's way will never lack God's supply.
Hudson Taylor
When God's
people departed from Him (in the Old Testament biblical accounts) all the more
emphasis was put upon His faithfulness, so that the only hope of His wayward
people lay not only in His grace and mercy but also in His faithfulness, which
stands in marked contrast with the faithlessness and inconstancy of His people.

God's
faithfulness means that God will always do what He said and fulfill what He has
promised.
Wayne Grudem
Systematic Theology, Zondervan, 1994, p. 194.
The Lord in His
faithfulness helped us. Help was never more truly needed, nor did the help of
the Lord ever come more obviously from Himself – His timing could not have been
better. Praise the Lord for His goodness! Praise Him that He helped us trust in
Him in this trying hour.

The being of
God may as well fail as the promise of God.

There is many
a believer who forsakes God, but there is never a believer whom God forsakes.

It stands to
reason that God would abandon us because of our constant sin, but if that was a
reason for Him to leave us, then there never was a reason for Him to have been
drawn to us… If He was attracted to us
as aliens and hostile in mind, how could He abandon those whom He now calls His
children?

To say that
God is faithful or consistent is not to imply, however, that He is predictable.
Much bitterness toward God results from a misconception of this. Too often we
speculate and try to guess the actions of God and, therefore, develop
expectations. Through our limited and often perverted reasoning, we determine
the “best” for our lives and then consider God's only reasonable response to be
one of quick and complete fulfillment.

The promises
of the Bible are nothing more than God’s covenant to be faithful to His people.
It is His character that makes these promises valid.

Our
need is not to prove God’s faithfulness but to demonstrate our own, by trusting
Him both to determine and to supply our needs according to His will.
John MacArthur

Matthew 1-7, Moody, 1985, p. 95.
Everything
about God is great, vast, incomparable. He never
forgets, never fails, never falters, never forfeits
His word. To every declaration of promise or prophecy the Lord has exactly
adhered, every engagement of covenant or threatening He will make good.

God is true.
His Word of Promise is sure. In all His relations with His people God is
faithful. He may be safely relied upon.
No one ever yet really trusted Him in vain. We find this precious truth
expressed almost everywhere in the Scriptures, for His people need to know that
faithfulness is an essential part of the Divine character. This is the basis of
our confidence in Him.

The
Attributes of God.
There are
seasons in the lives of all when it is not easy, no not even for Christians, to
believe that God is faithful. Our faith is sorely tried, our eyes bedimmed with
tears, and we can no longer trace the outworkings of His
love. Our ears are distracted with the noises of the world, harassed by the
atheistic whisperings of Satan, and we can no longer hear the sweet accents of
His still small voice. Cherished plans have been thwarted, friends on whom we
relied have failed us, a profest brother or sister in
Christ has betrayed us. We are staggered. We sought to be faithful to God, and
now a dark cloud hides Him from us. We find it difficult, yea, impossible, for
carnal reason to harmonize His frowning providence with His gracious promises.
